Who is Prithika Yashini?
K.Prithika Yashini is the first transgender police in India. In India, as days pass LGBTQ are accepted at the same time crimes against them are also increasing. She became the first sub-inspector transgender woman in 2017. She was born as Pradeep Kumar in Salem, Tamil Nadu where people forced her to be a man but due to the non-acceptance she suffered, she eloped to Chennai and worked. She applied for the sub-inspector exam but she was not allowed because she is a transgender she filed this to Madras High Court. This made a significant impact court-ordered to add transgender categories as 3rd category other than male and female.
She was able to write all the tests and even she filed a petition and was able to reduce the cutting mark from 28.5 to 25. Though she failed to qualify one physical task in the test she was managed to qualify to be fit for SI thus becoming the first transgender police in India she took charge as sub-inspector in Tamil Nadu, India.
